Jocelyn Wynter Chen is the author of YA action and adventure novel, BURNING EMBER, as well as her debut novel LAST MOMENT, which amassed tens of thousands of global readers before being republished in its current format. Born and raised in California the Canadian-American writer recently graduated from the University of Toronto where she studied Economics, Political Science, and English. Not limited to fiction, Chen won first place for her essay on affordable healthcare and was awarded a “Certificate of Recognition” by the State of California Senate for her piece.
Chen enjoys swimming, cycling, singing, and of course, writing. During her childhood, Chen had a near-drowning experience which motivated her to learn to swim. Eventually, she became a competitive swimmer, then a swim instructor and lifeguard. Due to her background in aquatics, water is often a common theme you can find in her stories as it serves as a reminder for Chen of how it is possible to overcome personal struggles and fears.
Whether it was in her athletic and academic pursuits or personal struggles Chen found her outlet from the real world was through writing and creating her own world. As such, she wishes the same words that once wandered around in her mind can find a home in your hearts.
